Susan Gerhart is a semi-retired computer scientist living in Prescott
AZ. Following her Ph.D. from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1973 she
survived academic stints at Toronto, Duke, the Wang Institute, and
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universities, teaching mainly software
engineering, Java, discrete mathematics, and data bases. Her research
was primarily in the field of formal methods at USC Information
Sciences Institute and the MCC research consortium. She worked with
NASA at Langley and Johnson centers in research and technology transfer
and at the National Science Foundation as a Division Director.
Currently, she develops and supports the desktop software packages
twURL for organizing search results and @Podder, a podcast client for
visually impaired. Her social services include providing opportunities
for women in the computing field and advocacy for software for "baby
boomer and beyond" users. She's currently fascinated by the emerging
medium of podcasts, enjoying keeping up with 150 subscribed feeds.
